Could constant itching or rubbing the nose cause these hard skin things on the inside of my nose, only on the center hard cartilage area. Sometimes the skin is so dry and sore there and other times it's soft and no problem, it seems to be getting worse as the years go by coming and going depending on this weather....lately it's lasting all the time. It's very annoying...lately on top of that...the top of my nose by the bridge is turning red for no reason where people are commenting. And it's very red...like brick red.
I've been to the allergist and do have nose sprays...I'm just wondering what this is exactly and can't find any info. on it.

I've always wondered why they are there, sometimes they are sharp and irritating when I rub my nose. I also wondered if it's from nose rubbing, since I often have a sneezey itchy nose. I would really like to know what they are.

  • I have the same problem and the only thing that I was told is that depending on the weather this area gets dry and that's why it gets hard during the Winter time. During the Summer, with all that humidity, I have no problem. I assume that it is a type of bacteria who is living there. I've tried alcohol, Tea Tree oil even that fungal cream for the feet but nothing works. I hope that somebody can come and help us to get rid of this.

Good grief...as annoying as this "condition" is, I'm glad to read that I'm not the only one who is suffering. Mine come and go and if I leave the "sores" alone, they eventually scab over. This presents its OWN problem because then I want to get rid of the scabs because I feel like someone could see them, even though they're inside my nose, just barely. The very tip end of my nose becomes quite red as well, and very sensitive. I blow my nose quite frequently, and know that I rub the end of my nose more than I should. I also have a nose ring that I "check" regularly to make sure I don't have any buildup sticking to, and then I also "check" the spot that frequently gets sore. That all probably doesn't help the situation.I've read on several other sites that if you irritate that sensitive part of your nose (by rubbing, tissue use, picking, etc.) and if it involves your finger(s), there's a pretty darn good chance it's a bacterial infection that your body starts fighting. The skin is very thin in that area and any break in the skin lets the bugs in. Recommendations are to cleanse the area of the nose with essentially anything BUT your finger - clean, sterile tissues or wipes gently applied with an antibacterial aid also gently applied is supposed to help.Good luck everyone!
