Recently, i suffered from a common cold and just as i was recovering, it seemed to get worse-i caught strep throat. The doctor gave me amoxicilin (5 days worth) and all my symptoms went away...except a new one appeared. I have impeccably clean teeth yet i started getting intense pain in the back of my lower jaw, behind my last molars. I thought i was developing wisdom teeth, because the gums were tender to touch and my jaw ached. It stings to eat or drink anything. I had an xray and do not have wisdom teeth, but found the pain was coming from "flaps" of swollen gums with an opening along the back molars. My dentist wants me to come in so he can "cut off" (!!!!) the flaps... Could this possibly be an allergic reaction to the amoxicilin i took? Please help, xmas is days away and i dont know what to do!!Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
