I'm not sure if this is at all normal but I've been on and off with different things for a good 2 month period, and I'm getting very tried and miserable at this point... I just don't know what's going on or how serious it is at all.
About 2 months ago I came down with a very slight sore throat and some muscle aches. I knew it meant a cold was coming on. I took some of this herbal menthol medicine that's supposedly supposed to fight a cold before it happens and reduce symptoms. I took it for 3 days and miraculously enough it worked very well as to I was better within 4 days.
However, a week or 2 later... it came back. My best friend and boyfriend had colds previous to this so I figured I just caught it again from them. But within a few days, it got way worse. The Friday of that week I felt my tonsils swell up (I still haven't gotten them taken out and I'm 17 years old). They swelled up pretty bad, and I do have a history of having tonsil attacks at least every year. But by the end of that day I had these extremely intense muscle pains... to the point where I was in tears shivering uncontrollably, unable to walk, and felt dizzy. I had a hot shower, took a nap, drank some water and that portion of the pain went away... however my tonsils were very swollen by this point. The next day I was in a lot of pain, barely able to swallow. It was Easter weekend so there were no clinics open. I had no choice but to suck it up till the next Monday. However by Sunday I felt slightly better and by the time Monday came around I was finally able to go out and live normally again. I was very grateful for it to have cleared up so easily.
Of course... it came back. Another week after that I had a slight tonsil problem again, as to they hadn't gone down in swelling totally yet. I had a nap and when I woke up, the tonsil on my left side was extremely swollen - you could see the swollen gland on my throat just bulging outward. I was in extreme, extreme pain. It just got worse the next day, as I went to school. I was dizzy and hallucinating and just in searing pain. It didn't go away the next day so I went to a walk in clinic, where they diagnosed me with strep throat. I took antibiotics (cephalex I think) for a week and within a week exactly I was feeling much better. I missed a lot of school and got really behind during that week and was very miserable. I had about enough of it, and when I did clear up I was beyond grateful. I thought it was finally the end.
But alas... a few days ago finally, I felt some slight tonsil swelling again. I could not beleive it. I was kind of numb to the pain at this point and practically ignored it. It did clear up the next day, but it would come and go on and off over the course of a day for about 3-4 days straight. Accompanying this... I've been having some really bad chills/muscle aches on and off too. Just Saurday though it got really bad. I had an intense chill and back/neckache that was just ruining my entire night. I figured that it was because I was stuck in rainstorms about 5 times that day and at least once a day for the past week or so. But yesterday I still felt the pain, but it grew throughout my entire body. I figured it was because I overslept (a whopping 16 hours... which I also think may be a problem I have). Today, I was still in a lot of pain, and it currently feels like theres a huge kink going from my neck to my back. It's extremely painful and even extra strength advil isn't helping, as it ususally does. This is accompanying me with a headache, sharp jabbing pains in my lower head, aches all over my body, and a weird thing with my eyes that's making me see what seems like flies constantly flying all around.
I don't know if all of this is connected at all, and if this could be something serious or if I'm just being a hypcondriac.
