I have lately had some strange and random episodes where whenever I eat, I feel like I can't swallow - its at the top part of the swallowing mechanism, fi that makes sense, kind of like post nasal drip. I, of course, panic, so Im sure anxiety has somethign to do with it. Allergists have found nothing, Im being treated for reflux, but it feels like my throat is closing or I am choking on phlegm whcih isn't there. Any ideas? Is this sensation of my thraot swelling shut a symptom of anxiety attacks?

  • Hey there, I've had this trouble every now and then. Something simple I should ask are does it go with any type of foods?Example:With bread related or possibly fruit related?Possibly try drinking water before you eat or possibly try seeing if you are breaking down the food before you swallow. I know it may sound weird, but sometimes you may be swallowing too early.

  • Soxfan you have the same problem as me.Basically i have problems with Anxiety, i've had breathing difficultys and an Panic attack over the past couple of weeks.Whenever i try to eat, it feels as if my throat is tight and feels like my throat is closing, it also feels like there is something stuck down there which is connected to my nasal passage. This has personally been happening to me for the past year, so don't worry about it, it's nothing serious, my throat has felt like it has swelled for a year, but thats because i havn't taken my meds.I have a problem with my nose, which makes it feel like my throat is tight and swolen, when in-fact it's just because i have something wrong with my nose, i used to take special Nasal drops for it, which pretty much cleared it up and my throat felt fine, but recently i havn't took them and it's gone back to worse again!Go to your doctor and ask if it's anything to do with your nose.(Btw, the anxiety kicks in for me when my throat feels so tight, it feels like i can't breath, when in-fact I can breath, so don't worry!)
