Hi there, I have joined this forum in the hope that I will be able to find answers.Hopefully I am able to find someone with the same symptoms and maybe some advice for my mum.

My mum is 56 and apart from the symptoms below, incredibly healthy. She has always eaten well, stayed away from sugar, alcohol and cigarettes, she has exercised and read many health books for optimum nutrition. Four years ago she started having a sore throat and her tongue started to tingle. Over these four years her symptoms have become progressively worse.

She now wakes every morning feeling a little better but as the day progresses, her throat becomes sore and she loses her voice. Her tongue is always raw and peeling and has deep grooves in it. Doctors say that it looks burnt. The roof of her mouth is also sore. Photographs show that her oesophagus is raw and red and swollen. She is constantly in pain! She says that it feels as if she has something stuck in her throat or the sensation of being strangled. At its worst, even her ears are sore and her nose throbs. She has been to seven specialists and has had so many blood tests and scans and scopes done. The specialists are at a loss, her tests and scans all come back as perfect and the scopes just show horrific pictures of her throat and oesophagus. Our family is at such a loss and we don't know how to help!

The one doctor suggested acid reflux but my mum has no heartburn or other acid reflux symptoms. She was put onto acid reflux medication and she became even more ill and in pain. She was so much worse on the tablets than off. She has even had food allergy tests and she has stayed off the foods that they suggested but that has not helped.

Recently she has had candida tests done and they have come back negative. One test did reveal that my mum's body is very acidic. She had a blood analysis done too and the lady descibed her blood as very 'hot'.

Everyone tells her how dangerous this is because it can lead to throat cancer but no one can offer her a solution. She is so frustrated and we are desperate to help her. Can anyone offer any advice?

Many thanks
