I have been dealing with this for the last two months, and I thought I would post here and see if anyone else experiences this. I feel like there is a ball stuck in my throat all the time it seems :(
It feels like mucus sometimes, and then other times it feels solid. I recently started having this problem swallowing on and off. There are times I can only drink liquids because it feels like solids get stuck in my throat. It usually gets worse at night. It really scares me because there are times it feels itchy and more tight than usual and the only things that provide some relief are life saves and gum. I feel like I'm swallowing to loudly when I do swallow...

There are sometimes I have problems swallowing saliva.. I went to my doctor and both times he prescribed me a z-pack and suggested I take singular. The singular makes me very sleepy and doesn't help much. I am taking prilosec otc at the moment and it has helped with the acid in my stomach, but the throat tightness continues.

I have an appointment with a gastroenterologist this friday, and I am just really worried about this.

If anyone has any information or advice please help me

  • I have also been to the ER because I was having difficulty swallowing to the point it really freaked me out. They basically told me the same thing my doctor did that it was acid reflux.

  • I went to the gastro doctor today and he told me it was probably because of the reflux all my symptoms... I have to have an upper endoscopy done in april and I have to go get my thyroid checked.. He also prescribed me aciphex for the reflux and suggested I take antacids like tums or pepto bismol. I'm worried about the endoscopy though :(

  • You probably need to make sure it's not a goiter; after that, perhaps an allergen you can't get away from, such as mold or pollution.

  • Hi xsbs. I have the same symptoms as you and this has been going on for eight months. I have been to Cleveland Clinic and every doctor you can imagine at least two times to no avail. I'm having anxiety attacks because of this and they turn it around and say the anxiety is causing the swallowing problem. I lost 35 pounds cause I have problems swallowing food, water, and pills now. It just keeps getting worse. And this feeling is 24/7 and has made me sit in the house for 7 months. Have you an answer yet cause it's been 2 years. Please let me know.
