Throat Pain for Months

On the left side of my throat i've been having an on and off blunt pain for quite some time. In the past months every time I press my tongue right under my left jaw it triggers a cramping sensation in my left throat. This has increase to where i'll get a dull pain randomly throughout the day. I visited a doctor about 6 months ago and there were no signs of cancer in my mouth. This did not include a test of the throat, however. I'm 19 years old and have chewing tobacco for 3 years (on and off every 6 months or so) been smoking cigerettes for a year(at my peak 6 a day, now 1 every 2 days) and drink about 3 times a week on average.

I'm seriously concerned about my health with this.

  • Well, first and foremost ... I suggest you immediately halt all of that which you mention in your post that you know causes harmful possibilities ... and later probabilities. It's not worth it, is it??!! (That's a serious question you really need to sincerely ask yourself.) Secondly, what kind of doctor did you see for this? The doc claimed it wasn't cancer, did he tell you what the possibilities are? Did you get a referral? Did you get a script? Call this doctor, explain that the problem remains, and request a referral to the appropriate specialist ... perhaps an ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist), I don't know ... ask.
