Sores On My Tongue After Surgery

I just had surgery Friday ( the 6th ) and they inserted a breathing tube. I went in surgery with no sores on my tongue & came out with sores. They are white. I have one on the top side of my tongue & one on the underside of my tongue. They are VERY painful and I can't eat, drink, talk or anything without them hurting.

I was prescribed Hydrocodone for the pain from the surgery and it seems to help the pain from the sores but once it wears off, it's very painful. Could the breathing tube have caused these sores? Any suggestions to easing the pain other than my Hydrocodones?
