Sore throat.... someone please help!

I am 26 year old female. I woke up saturday morning with a insanely sore throat, figured I was catching the cold that was going around... and didn't think anything of it. Saturday night I was coughing and felt like really bad chest congestion (was almost feeling like i was drowning) I took some advil cold and sinus, and seemed to be okay... since then my throat has improved, however under the hangy ball in the back of my mouth/throat... there seems to be a white patch.

I am thinking this is probably strep throat, but I just don't have the ability to go to the doctor at this particular moment. Any ideas as to how i could treat this at home? It seems as long as I continue to have fluid and keep my throat moist I don't lose my voice. The minute i stop drinking something, give me a few mins of talking, and my voice is shot.

Any answers would be great!!! Thanks!!!
