Hello everyone,

My boyfriend has been suffering from swollen lymph glands in his neck now for 5 months. It has been accompanied by discomfort in left side of chest, fatigue, fevers, trouble getting to sleep. He visited the hospital 4 times, was diagnosed with Strep, which the tests then came back negative for. Then diagnosed with an elevated white blood cell count, so they assumed he had infectious mono. It hasn't gone away, although he has rested. We are at our wits end, and can't figure it out. The docs seem to pass it off, but we're worried it could be more. Also, we have had problems with fleas ever since he has gotten sick. I don't know if it has anything to do with it. I can't seem to find anything online or in books.:( And we can't afford another doctor bill.
Please help if this sounds familiar! Thank you!

  • My daughter is 14 and she has had swollen neck glands/lymphnodes once a month or more for 3 years. This past week her glands were as big as golf balls. The doctor thought it was strep, but the tests were negative. I made an appt with a throat specialist because my doctor keeps prescribing Amoxicillin but sooner or later it comes back. Sometimes she has cold symptoms with it but, like this time, has only an earache in her right ear. Her neck is sore to the touch. I'm very worried and have fought with the doctors for a few years with this reoccuring symptom. She had her tonsils removed but that didn't change a thing. I'm still waiting to find out why.

  • Thank you for your reply!I can't believe how similiar the symptoms are! Do you have a problem with fleas, or maybe does your daughter have molar teeth coming in? Because those two are what we have narrowed it down to. My boyfriend just took a mono test, which came back negative. So we think it's either an infection due to fleas, or an abcessed molar. The only other thing i think your daughter could have would be lyme disease. I hope that you get the answers soon, it must be such a trying time for you both.Thank you,Rebecca

  • I have had a permanently swollen lymph node in my neck for about 7 months now, night sweats and tiredness and although I have been repeatedly assured it is not lympoedaema noone will actually tell me what it is. It's annoying but I can only guess that they know what they're doing. Plus I asked for three opinions. This is what gets to me...so yeah they say what it's not but what about what it is?! It's there isn't it, so tell people why. I hope you find more out soon.

Thank you!Don't want to worry you and maybe I'm wrong but swollen lymph glands particularly in the neck could be a sign of hodgkinsons lymphoma (cancer) particularly the fatigue, fever - night sweats? elevated white blood cell count and your doctor does nothing! - change your doctor and get a chest x ray done a.s.a.p. find the money from somewhere and get it done.

The glands in my neck are swollen and they are very painful. I had an MRI and the doctor told me it was a buldging disk with arthritis. Nothing seems to ease the pain. Any suggestions for me? I am 68 years old and I am disgusted that no doctor can give me anything that will ease the pain.Betty

  • My husband had this happen to him too. He was diagnosed with mono and that was 2 years ago, he still has a same enlarged lympnode. His mono lasted a good year. All the same symptoms too. He still dose. We are looking into thyroid issues and parathyroid, maybe you should get some tests on those, if you haven't already. Good luck.

  • why is it SO many doctors blow off these problems!grrrrr! I posted on the first page " I can't do this again" and I have 5 ferrets, and lived in a basement apartment level with the ground, and dirt floors under the carpets...needless to say we has alot of fleas on us. They onpy bothered one ferret, and bit us instead!lol. But I have none now, (fleas) and I am getting sick again, so maybe the fleas passed us something from mice or rats. I live in a city. do you guys too? I am also 28 years old

  • Okay, I just found this forum looking for a possible answer to my problem, and could not believe how amazingly simular everything I was reading here was to my situation. My symptoms started at the beginning of this year with painful area in my neck, with swollen glands. I went to my primary care phycisian and he determined that it was an infected lymphnode, when I asked what could cause such a thing, his answer was "it could be a number of things" none of which he told me!!! He prescribed an antibiotic, along with Prednizone, which compeltely got rid of it (so I thought), only to have the exact symptoms come back again 3 months later. he called in the same meds. and once again, symptoms gone, 4 months after that, they came back. same procedure and they went away again, it has been 3 months since then and now they are back again. I have severe allergies and have to get allergy shots every two weeks and have been for 8 years now. I have an appointment on Monday morning to see her, hoping to find out if this could have anything to do with my sinuses/allergies?? I just want to find out once and for all what could be causing this and get rid of it for good!!!!

  • :) Good Morning, It's 10:00 a.m. here. The way i see things, are one; we all have, body, soul,& spirit; and we also do things differently. Myself, am very fortunate, for i have both, that is, my relationship with God, through His Son, ***********t, gives me spiritual insite, and on the other hand, a mind that think's clearly. So, if you will allow me, i'll give you advice in ethier. My body's been ravaged, due to the "abuse" of alcohol, and that i have given up. Now, let's proceed to your situation. What i use for treatments,is the natural way that God intended. Have you heard of tumeric?. Well it's used to detox areas of one's body; in my case the liver. Maybe explore this, with assistence from a qualified p.h.d. Now if you will prescribe to this method, you will have the best of both worlds. Good Luck!.
