I think I ripped something while swallowing, sharp pain in neck and now my ear hurts?

Thanks in advance for any help. I'm wondering what may have happened and whether I need to worry about this if it just goes away on its own.

I fealt 100% fine until today while swallowing I fealt a sort of spasm about half way down the right side of my neck, followed by sharp pain in that area, and then a pain which radiated to my ear. It was very sharp like something ripped. For awhile it was quite painfull and seemed to cause another small spasm if I swallowed.

Hours later some of it has faded away but now I have more of a dull pain in my neck, more like a gland sort of pain or tightness, and I get a little bit of a sharp pain in my ear when swallowing - very similar to what I would get after a bad case of tonsilitis.

I've had alot of tonsil problems in the past and am very prone to throat infections but I fealt fine up until that instant when I swalled earlier today.

I'm not sure if this is at all related but 2 weeks ago on a nasty boat ride I was thrown into a door jam while sleeping; the right side (same side) of my head hit first and it caused some odd ear and jaw pain in addition to the pain on the outside of my head from the injury. It took about 3 days to completely go away and I've fealt fine since.

Thanks for any help you can provide,
