i've had some itchiness in the ears for a few days now, and sometimes a jabbing pain and a little ringing (mostly when i lay down at night). my ears feel full and my hearing is a little dulled (i think, anyway) as well.

what could be causing this? for some reason my scalp has been very itchy at night these past few days (i have a problem with dandruff but my scalp usually does not itch), as are other parts of my body (something will itch here, something will itch there, so on). i clean my ears with q-tips but hardly anything ever comes out.

oh boy ... i really don't want to be told this is something i'll have to live with for the rest of my life ...

please help! thanks.

  • Are you experiencing ringing (tinnitis)? Have you had any trauma to you hearing lately? Loud noises? industrial exposure?

  • sometimes.... might hear it once or twice a day, and some days not at all. it's very brief (for a few seconds). loud noises definitely. i play my music too loud in my headphones but i've stopped using them (gone 3 days now w/o them). i'm so scared that damage has already been done though. i should also add that i get queasy and there feels like "pressure" in my head sometimes when my ears go "in" and "out" (it's hard to describe, but it's not my hearing that's coming and going like this... it's some kinda sensation). it's also messed with my sinuses a little. thanks for replying.
