Hey All,

I have decided to come to this forum after a few months of constant suffering from Acute Pharyingitis/Tonsillitis/whatever its called. I am a 22 year old male that is in good health with the exception of this. I am here because I am frustrated & can't take anymore of this BS. It all started back in May of this year - I wen't to a walk-in clinic because I had severe sore throat symptoms - the doctor was a total idiot. He didn't even bother to swab my throat - looked at me for literally 3 seconds & sent me on my way with some kind of cough medicine (which I had no cough or even symptoms of one) & indomethacin. Ended up being a total waste of $70 (Unfortunately, I do not have health insurance).

A few more days went by...still no luck. My sore throat was getting progressively worse & I had no choice but to go to the local emergency room. Turns out that the doctors there were really unable to help me - they gave me some kind of numbing medicene & sent me home. The very next day, I was at work in the middle of a meeting I couldn't talk/breathe - wen't back to the same ER & the doctor told me to go to an urgent care. Ended up costing another $100.00 - all the NP lady did is look & say go to the emergency room. It was a peritonsillar abscess.

Ended up going to the emergency room...the wait was super long. They made me travel by ambulence to their other hospital in downtown Phoenix (I was perfectly okay to drive & had my car there the whole time). After 2 days of laying in the hospital like a zombie they had an ENT doctor drain it out & they sent me home with antibiotics (penicillin), which I had a bad experience with. And to make matters worse, they weren't able to get me on the states health insurance.

A few weeks later after no success, I had to make 3 more trips to the county hospital. Turns out they gave me keflex - which really seemed to relieve the symptoms - but it came back :|...BOTH times. They gave me clindamycin this time which I am now taking...I am down to my last 2 pills & no luck.

Basically I'm stuck because they want me to pay a large sum of money upfront to see an ENT doctor - unfortunately in the situation that I'm in I can't afford to pay it. What can I do? I at least want to have it looked at real quick & find out what exactly is wrong.
