I am 34 yrs old and started having swallowing problems about a year and 1/2 now. The first time it happened came on all of a sudden. I was actually at a resturaunt eating one day and noticed the food in my throat - upper part behind my tounge - got stuck there. The more I drank, the worse it got, kept building up. I had to go to the bathroom and hack it up, along with some mucus. It started happening almost everytime I would eat, especially dry foods. So, I started to have panic attacks whenever this would happen. Very scary and annoying. The only time I feel a little better is when I take Claritin which makes me think it is allergy sinus drip. But I cannot stay on medicine forever. Don't know what else to do. I also take Prilosec for acid reflux which I have been having for about 9 years. I don't want to think it is esophageal smasms but I have read about that and the symptoms match.Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
