Ears randomly go deaf, than loud ringing?

Im 18 years old and a guy.

I have many other symptoms, but this is the most recent and obvious physical one, its disturbing.

Every once in a while (every few days), I could be doing anything, and then either one or both ears go about 3/4 deaf suddenly for up to a few minutes. While its happening and before and after, I notice I have a lot of pressure built up around my head, and leads to a heavy feeling a bad headache that doesnt go away. Also, I have even louder ringing in ears than usual for a long time after it happens. Most the time I notice a high pitched ringing noise though.

Anybody have any idea what this is?

Im not sure if its permanent or not? But i do know it scaryIve had a bad cough for the pasts 2 months, 2 colds for the past 2 months and now this. Im just doing research on the net now before i go see a doctor.

  • You could have fluid behind your ear drum....Im 20 years old and have the worst ears for my age. Ive been diagnosed with Chronic Serous Otis Media. Big name I know. When I was younger I always has earaches, double earaches, ear infections, swimmers ear... etc. I remember it like it was yesterday, when I was 10 years old my ears popped and I couldnt ear, and never unpopped. I had drainage like no other, and I was dizzy all the time.I went to the ENT in 2006 and had my hearing tested, and a cat scan, he said I was fine. I knew I wasnt fine so I went for a second opinion. My doctor now, tested me and actually got into a legal problem with my old doctor because he found I had my Chronic Serous Otis Media, and I was 64% deaf in my right ear, and 45% deaf in my left ear. Since then, its gotten worse. Ive had 9 surgeries and now Im 85%deaf in my right ear and 55% deaf in my left. The fluid problem is unbelieveable. I also have a seizure disorder, so its really scary when I get dizzy because I dont know whether its my seizure problem, or my equilbrium off balance because of my ears. I just got my hearing aids ordered and am scheduled for a tenth surgery in January. Its ***l not hearing and having this fluid problem. My advice to everyone is that if you are having any ear problems and think somethings really wrong and the doctors keep telling you youre fine, get a second opinion, or a third... because you dont want to be like me, and find out too late.

  • ok guys, heres wats up. da first guy that posted its eithr 3 thing. the loud high pitched ringing is probebly electronics. sometimes wen you have several electronics in da same room they give off a high pitch, which u usualy cant hear, but wen another electronic is present it make it lower, allowing u to hear it (but its still pretty high pitched). ALSO, the headache and all that other stuff, that cud b a growing tumor, now im not a doctor or anything but u shud get it checked out. lastely, migranes, explains everything. and its nt life threatending and theres medicine for it.
