Hello everybody. I think my ears are plugged up but I can't really tell and I don't want to go to the Dr. for something petty. A few days ago, I have become hard of hearing. Sometimes things seems loud even though I know its not. In my left ear I have this loud "noise" that sounds like snow on the t.v. Its very bothersome. If anybody has any information to give me I would appreciate it. :)

  • There is nothing “petty” about the ears … they are awfully close to the brain. My mother (a retired nurse) will tell you … if you have a problem, especially from the neck up, go to the hospital/doctor immediately …I am new to this site … I hope to have my story posted in the next few days …As an introduction, though … I woke up one morning in 2006 to a “shrilling” sound in my head. By the time I found a doctor who (1) agreed that there was something wrong with me and (2) was willing and able to find out what it was, I had lost two of my hearing bones (on one side) and one of my hearing bones (on the other side) to three very destructive tumors called cholesteatoma …The “shrill” I have in my head is, in fact, incessant subjective tinnitus. It warned me of the tumors … lost most of my hearing, though …You might look into subjective tinnitus (the snow on the t.v. sound you’re hearing) … and …hyperacusis (for the sensitivity to sound) … Good luck to you …

  • Try getting "ear wax remover" (I don't know the name of the brand/s) at your local drug store and if it doesn't work, after a few days, see your doctor.
