Earaches while flying....remedies?

We are flying to Boston this weekend and my daughter suffers horrible earaches when we fly. We've tried gumchewing and earplane plugs with little effect. any suggestions?

We've tried gumchewing and earplane plugs with little effect. any suggestions?When i was very young I had severe ear problems, I believe it was a perforated ear drum, bleeding ,ear pain ,etc. Now all these years later I have found swallowing, gum chewing trying to blow the pressure out didnt work for me either.I did find that taking a sinus and allergy pill half an hour before take off really helped keep the sinuses open and I did not have the same degree of pain and I could blow my ears clear. Hope this works for your daughter as I know firsthand how painfull this can be.
