ear bleeding

this is the second time I have experienced ear bleeding without any known reason for onset. The first incident occured 3-6 months ago and there was no trauma to the ear. The bleeding comes from the outer portion of the ear just above the external auditory meatus and not the inner ear. The affected area is small and blood red where the blood comes out of, and it feels mildly sore like a pustule. I don't think I even touched my ear before it happened someone just told me it was bleeding. what are the possible causes for this and is there any reason for concern?

  • One of my friend's sons has something like this. His is a skin disorder. If he gets any water in his ears, they bleed. They cannot come in contact with water so he wears earplugs. I think he has some of this condition on his neck as well.
