Cold sore or...something else

This is such a minor problem I don't want to bother my doctor about it.

How do I know if a sore patch that looks a little like a blister on my top lip is a cold sore (ie herpes) or something else like a burn?

I have never had a cold sore before, and I haven't kissed anybody at all in the last few months (apart from my kids).

I need to know what it is so I don't pass it on if it's infectious (which of course it would be if it was herpes simplex).

  • @Rokin. The link you pasted is that of an acid reflux med website. there is no mention of a cold sore treatment there whatsoever.
