Chronic pain-like feeling in gums

My gum on one of the sides of oral cavity has a really unpleasant feeling(close to pain sometimes). This is almost every day and the feeling is rather continuous(day and night). I have a tiny scar there where the pain is because I used to chew that area before. I stopped since but the feeling is still there.
Is there anything I can do?
