Hi, i am 22 years old, male, and for the past week or so every morning right after i wake up i see streaks of blood in my spit. This happens only in the morning and the spit clears up the third or fourth time. The color is dark red (sometimes it also looks fresh - red) and the spit looks pretty thick and sticky. I smoked for about 5 years, 4-5 cigarettes a day, and i have quit for about a month now. I have not been coughing and my lungs actually feel pretty good. I try to exercise 2-3 times a week and i walk about 4 miles a day.
Since this has been happening on a daily basis, i went to the ER room where they did some blood tests and took a Xray of my chest. Everything looked alright to them. They said it was either from post nasal dripping or it could also be the dryness in the air or it could even be that my gums bleed at night from grinding my teeth (my gums have been bleeding more lately). My throat feels sore sometimes and my nose has been stopped up, but no coughing.
I got a humidifier for the dry air and i use a nasal spray saline but im not sure they help.
Does anyone know what is wrong with me??Could this be TB?
