Bitter taste with sweet foods

My mother is 65 and has spent the last year undergoing test after test with her doctor and dentist to establish the cause of a terrible taste in her mouth. Sweet foods are completely unbearable - causing a foul bitter taste. She has had just about every test and examination available and is still really struggling to get to the bottom of this.

Can anyone shed any light, please?!

  • I'm 30 years old and I contracted Mono (mononucleosis) about seven weeks ago. After my sore throat subsided and I was actually able to eat, I was no longer able to eat sweet foods. My favorite foods such as cookies, candy, diet coke, fruit and even some starchy foods...anything sweet tastes extremely and unbearably bitter when I attemt to eat them. I have no idea how long this will laste, but I hope not very long b/c this is a very frustrating way to live.

  • Hi, I have some questions...my sister is 40 years old just got over Mono about 2-3 weeks ago. She had a HORRIBLE time with it, but now EVERYTHING tastes bad to her. Her most common complaint is food tasting "bitter." Do you still have that symptom? How long did it last? Anything at all you could provide on this topic would be immensely helpful...thanks!I'm 30 years old and I contracted Mono (mononucleosis) about seven weeks ago.
