About 2 wks ago my son complained about his neck bothering him. A week ago we noticed his neck was looking swollen and when I touched it the neck if very swollen and hard.
Sunday night swollen and hard. Monday took him to the Dr and they ordered blood tests and gave him antibiotics for infection. Temp was 100.8 and swelling was about the size of two golf balls side by side (just as hard too). Dr's office called Tuesday to let me know that his blood tests showed really high CRP and ESR levels but White Cell Count was normal. I was then told to take him to a CT scan of the neck on Friday (yesterday). Friday at 1:30 pm they did the scan and told me I would get the results from the pediatrician on Tuesday Sept 7th. Well at 3:30 pm the same day I received a phone call from the pediatricians office informing me that his CT scan was abnormal showing very swollen tissue on the right side and the Dr was concerned and so they had already set up an appt with the ENT specialist. So we are off to the specialist on Tuesday at Children's. Hoping to get some answers as to what is going on. They mentioned a few possibilities but they can't say for sure yet what is going on so to just keep him calm.
Well by Friday night he was complaining of a headache and the lights are bothering him so he hasn't been in the light much today. Headache seems to be doing ok right now but it seems that his neck is a little more swollen than yesterday. Fever is staying around 99. He had a hard time getting comfortable to sleep the last two nights even though he has been tired. Today he tells me that his tummy is really bothering him and that everytime he tries to eat he feels like gagging so he hasn't ate much for the last week now really. Anyone have experience with this? If so what did your diagnosis turn out to be. I am just a worried mom hoping her son will be ok.
