8 Year Old Son with Ringing in Ears

Hello everyone! I am so happy to have found this site! What brings me here is a situation with my 8 year old son. For about 6 months (maybe longer) he has complained on and off about ringing in his ears. He told me the ringing is 24 / 7 and never goes away. He had multiple ear infections as an infant / toddler which resulted in having tubes in both ears. They have pushed their way out, and he has been ear infection free for quite some time. I should not have discarded my sons complaints for as long as I did.

I took him to an ENT last week for his problem and he was given a hearing test. His hearing is fine, and he has no fluid in his ears. I was given no direction from the doctor other than tinnitus - to which there is no medication and herbs are not advisable for children. How do I tell an 8 year old he has to live with it? Well, after posting this problem on webMD, however, the ENT specialist there suggested I take him to a Neurologist (as my son also experiences migraines........has had probably 5 in the past year).

I am going to take his suggestion, and also post this in the neurology section, but was wondering if anyone here had this sypmtom and could "anything" be done? Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

  • Well, that smile probably went off your face since no one answered you. Try posting to the main section: "I cannot get a diagnosis"...there is a doctor who will answer sometimes and is very good...he is also a neurologist...title it to get his attention... well, short of corrective surgery, you may want to have him evaluated by an expert homeopathic doctor. You will need to find a really good one and work with them for perhaps a year to monitor the results. I know there could be some good antidotes if they know what they are doing. Modern medicine may be of no help. With the migranes, you could take him to an allergist and watch his diet--dairy in particular and any junk food. He may need to try biofeedback or other self-monitoring programs such as EFT:www.emofree.com
