Okay...I am trying to get my health problem fixed. I have been to so many they blur together. It took me 10 years to get my cholestetoma diagnosed. When they removed it, I needed my eardrum replaced(with cartilidge), 2/3 of mastoid removed, hammer and anvil replaced as well. Surgery went well. I flew 1 month after surgery, doctor approved. My ear drum blew in flight. When I got back I had a tube put in. I had ear infections almost every month and had cronic pain. I developed fungus in my ear about 1+ after surgery. 3 months on antibiotics, and a ct scan later. Cholesteatoma is back. Next surgery is done...partial radical mastoidectomy. I have a huge hole in my head. I can deal with this if I am finally healthy. I am still having a ton of ear infections. One more bout of fungus. I have cronic gland swelling on bad ear side of my head. My last 4 month bout I had 3-4 months antibiotics, 2 shots of rhosephine(sp) and anti swelling meds. I also had the glands in my groin all the way up my body on my bad ear side swell and painfull. They have checked my white blood cell count and basic blood tests and I check out fine. I am almost always on antibiotics. At least every 6-8 weeks. I am only 36. I still exersice and try to live normally through all this. But I get so frustrated. I hear from friends that it must be an immune problem. But the basic blood test don't show anything. I am in a small-ish town with not a lot of specialists. I get so down. When ever I travel I get so sick. If anyone knows what this is.....please help. The doctors just treat the episodes. And pull out there hair. arggghhhh. Thanks! K:confused:

  • You need to get off and stay off all those antibiotics. No wonder your infections keep coming back. Antibiotics are destroying your good bacteria and leaving you open to the bad ones taking over your body. If you MUST take them at least take probiotics along with them.

  • SOUNDS LIKE ME!!!!! I WAS BORN WITH MASTOIDITIS AND THEY FINALLY CAUGHT AT AGE 5 IN WHICH APROX 5 SUGERIES LATER I AM HAVING ON NEXT MONTH. I AM NOT SURE WHAT IT IS CALLED BUT I WENT TO THE CLEVELAND CLINIC THIS TIME AND FOUND THIS SPECIALIST WHO ONLY DOES SURGERY ON EARS THATS IT NOT ENT. I WAS THRILLED. I HAVE MY NEXT BIG APPOINTMENT ON MARCH 27 THEN WE APPROACH SURGERY. I AM 39 AND MY EAR DRAINS EVERYDAY 2 TO 4 TIMES A DAY AND THE SMELL IS JUST AWFUL. THE FUNNY THING IS I DID NOT HAVE THIS FOR YEARS NOW IT IS BACK AND MY HEARING IS GETTING WORSE. THIS DOCTOR CLAIMS HE CAN REMOVE THE AIR CELLS AND 60 TO 80 % CHANCE OF HELPING ME. I AM WILLING TO TAKE THESE ODDS. I LIKE YOU HAVE TO TAKE ANITBIOTICS ALL THE TIME, UNTIL I FOUND PROBOTICS. NOT SURE IF YOU BELIEVE IN ALL THAT BUT IT HAS HELPED TO BOOST MY IMMUNE SYSTEM. MY TEST RESULTS ALSO WHERE NORMAL AS A MATTER OF FACT GREAT, BUT NOW I AM BETTER THAN EVER. TRY FINDING A LOCAL HERB STORE ( A GOOD ONE) I REFUSE TO LIVE LIKE THIS ANY LONGER SO I AM ATTACKING IT. I AM PRAYING THIS IS THE LAST SURGERY. GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE YOU EMAIL ME WITH YOUR EMAIL SO I CAN TELL WHAT THEY SAID AND THE RESULTS OF MY SURGERY. MY NEW DOCTOR IS DR. WEBER CLEVELAND CLINIC. HAVE A GREAT DAY. JENNIE MCKOWN
