OK, I know you aren't supposed to use Q tips to clean your ears, but sometimes (though rarely) I do and I'm always very careful not to go too far. The other day when I cleaned my ears out, I noticed that upon sticking the Q tip in my left ear there was intense pain and it sounded like there was water stuck in the ear where the Q tip was touching, although the Q tip came out totally dry. I tried to replicate this in the other ear, but the other ear was completely normal.

Any clue as to what this could be?

  • You may have a blister inside of your ear where you scratched it at some other point in time. You will need to go to the ENT doctor to get it "popped" or wait for it to pop on its own.
