Regurgitation - help!

My husband has had an ongoing problem for several years. On a regular basis during or after eating, he gets a feeling that food is "stuck" in his esophagus. Sometimes this clears on its own, but most times he has to go and regurgitate the food. If he waits too long, he vomits up his stomach contents, too. He has been to several doctors and they have not been able to diagnose any abnormalities. He has had a scope to check his esophagus for strictures and has had a barium check with no result. He is not overeating or eating too fast when this happens. I know this can't be normal - does anyone know what could cause this???? Any help is appreciated!

  • I have the same problem. Mine was diagnosed a long time ago as damage to the valve at the top of my stomach not closing. This allows food to be "burped" back up. However it also allows stomach acid to seep up your throat while you sleep. I sleep with antacids by my bed just in case.

  • It is not acid reflux. Dont listen to these claims by most doctors, what i would like to know is if your husband has gone through some kind of throat trama several years ago before this all statred.? He may not have trouble swallowing but at times his swallowing feels off not normal almost like a kid with snot in his nose who dose a quick swallow by almost biting his teeth. You can imitate my discription to see what i mean. I'm also trying to find out what this is. Good luck
