I have had extreme nausea, gnawing stomach discomfort, diarrhea and no appitite for about 6 weeks.
I wen to the ER and they did a full blood workup which came back normal. My primary doc did an abdominal ultrasound and blood work. The ultrasound came back okay but the blood work showed I have an H pylori infection which I will be treating with antibiotics and prevacid.
I had an endoscopy done 18months ago in dec05 which showed I had a hiatal hernia, gastritis, and acid reflux.
My question is because I have felt so awfully ill the last 6 weeks and the weight is unintentially coming off I am worried about stomach cancer. Does having an upper scope done 18 months ago make it less likely for that to occur? If I still have symptoms after getting rid of the H pylori the next step is the upper endo again.
Thanks for any kind of feedback.
P.S. Also had a colonscopy in Feb 07 which came back fine.
