He has had Diarrhea Daily most of his life except as a child (his stool was so large they had to break it up for it to flush and he wouldn't go for weeks if he could).
He literally has "blow outs" or "butt Explosions", excuse me for the detail, but I think it necessary. He does this about 10 times a day, and He's seen docs and all they do is tell him to change diet, he's overweight as well, and doesn't even eat excessively!!!!!!! He's only about 50 lbs over, but he can't loose the weight!
He also has HORRIBLE heart burn that he gets treated. But without it he says he feels like he is dying!
Anyone have any idea to what he could ask the docs to test for?
Not only do I feel bad for him (because it's very painful for him) but I also am pregnant again and cleaning the toilet more than once a day is too much for me!! Yes it's that bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • make him clean the toilet. Its his mess and you are the pregnant one.Plus make him clean the cat litter tray too if you have one.You tell him you must not clean these two items because there is a danger of infection to the unborn child (toxoplasmosis in one case) and he will end up paying for the childs extra health care for the rest of his life.Hope this will help.

  • Maybe he should see an endocrinologist. I had bad bowel problems and my gastro missed addison's disease and gave me prevacid to mask some of my symptoms. I'd do a hormone profile on him, especially for the weight gain if he's not overeating. Has he had his gallbladder removed???? Sounds like the doctor totally missed the issue and he was just passed off. I'd be complaining.

  • It might be Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). IBS is usually diagnosed by its symptoms and by the absence of other diseases, so a number of conditions must be ruled out and several tests should be done (such as a stool sample test, a sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, barium enema) before IBS can be diagnosed. Also, there are many remedies for management of diarrhea, starting from herbs to medications.

  • He should have a complete stool test and specifically test for clostridium dificile bacteria. This is often not tested, and can cause pseudomembranous colitis. At the VERY LEAST he needs to be taking the best quality probiotic you can afford. Get one with several strains of beneficial flora to help build his intestines back up. www.vitacost.com has a great selection and great prices. He needs to be taking a double dose until his symptoms improve, and then continue taking a regular dose after that. He does need to change his diet and cut out ALL sugars, dairy, wheat products. This is hard to do, but it should really help. Visit www.wholeapproach.com and print out their food list - it is a really helpful list of foods to eat and foods to avoid. You must commit to this for at least 2 months before you see noticeable changes. And, if he follows this list, I guarantee he will lose weight!Best wishes.DOM

  • Please do not listen to anything Shula or Acuann tell you. My sister just passed away because Shula and Acuann told her that her doctor was wrong and she did not have a serious condition. Acuann even told her to get acupuncture to get healed. These people are going to be investigated for practicing medicine without a license. Shula and Acuann are specifically wanted in connection with my sisters homocide. Thats right homocide. If she would have listened to her doctor instead of these internet quacks she would still be here today. Rest assured I will do everything in my power to put these two behind bars and shut this website down for good.

  • probably something is irritating his intestinal tract ,at both ends and quite possibly in the middle too.find the irritant, and eliminate it from his diet.in my wifes case(which was very similar indeed,)turned out it was milk;or lactose intolerance if you want it in posh.our big clue was pale coloured stools.since i thought it unlikely to have been tropical sprue, since we live in a temperate climate,we eliminated milk as an experiment.....bingo! it took about four weeks for stool colour , frquency ,consistency and size to become about normal. she is now so well that she can well tolerate small amounts of milk or cream if she wants them.dark brown ,or yellow, material could indicate a bacterial or amoebic cause , as others have suggested;though the fact that you are not affected is interesting, after so long together, and is an argument for a non organic origin.just do the detective work.you know my methods, watson.in the meantime, buy a clothes peg!

  • he would not have c. diff colitis for 30 years.seems that IBS is the most likely diagnosis as mgl noted above. malabsorptive syndromes, including fatty diets and lactose intolerance, can also cause similar symptoms and perhaps there is something the doctors know about his diet that you did not post.

  • I had a similar problem (not this intense) until I found out I had food allergies and aversions. After I found out what what I was allergic to I avoid all of those foods. Food allergies can cause IBS like symptoms and also they can cause weight gain. Though it will be hard to avoid the foods that he might be allergic to or those that don't settle well with him because people with food allergies have cravings for the foods that they are allergic to. If it is this, it will be hard to adjust, but it's worth looking into. The most common food allergies are wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, dairy, soy, egg & shellfish. Good luck!
