I have been sick for over 2 years now with constant Diarrhea, I am unable to work like this and thus been out of work for well over a year and a half. I'll list below everything I have tried to no avail.

I finally got limited assistance from the county I live in, they sent me to an MD that sent me to a Gastro. I had a Colonoscopy, that reveiled no problems (thank god) I've had complete blood work no problems, urine test no problems.

In the last year I have lost over 120 pounds, I was at my higest 310 pounds, and now I'm under 190. Just since last week I have dropped 7 pounds alone. My regular MD says "Don't worry your still way over weight"

Also I'm not taking any presciption medications, or any otc medications other the Immodium if I have to try and leave the house.

I have cut all diary out, no milk, no butter, no cheese, no hidden dairy. I don't consume soda, I don't smoke, I've never done drugs, I used to drink socially but cut that out at least a few years ago. I have restricted my fat to just about none now, I cut out any hydrogenated oils and other bad fats. I tried to cut gluten out for several weeks that made no change once so ever. I tried eliminating everything and just eating rice for several weeks, still no better. As it is now I eat very little if at all, I can kind of eat Steel Cut oatmeal with rice milk, I try to eat vegitarian soups with no fats, and pasta with fat free diary free sauce but that goes straight through me anymore. I really don't know what I can eat.

My symptoms are: no energy once so ever, dizzy when I get up from sitting (dr said dr more water!) pale (very pale), bad pain in my left side (waist area) the pain in the side is worse since the scope (Gastro says the scope couldn't of aggrivated it) very bad stomach cramps like I'm going to have Diarrhea, I got to the bathroom upwards of 5-6 times a day, I sometimes have regular bowel movements then run right back to the bathroom with Diarrhea. If I leave the house I'm always on the look out for restrooms, sometimes it's a false alarm but it's hard to tell with such strong cramps.

My gastro said there is nothing wrong with me, what ever the heck thats supposed to mean, and to increase my fiber. I have tried Heathers Tummy Fiber in the past months and I'm trying it yet again. It has no effect whats so ever.

I have tried supplementing my diet with Diary free probiotics, digestive enzymes, as of right now for the last few months I take Vitamin E, Beta Carotene, and a multi vitamin.

FWIW, I relocated to where I am about a year and a half ago, but I was just as sick back home, but it's been getting worse and worse. I seen a friend I haven't seen in almost 2 years, his wife was in tears, she said that I look like I'm dying (real reassuring) everyone I run into asks if I'm ok (except for doctors) It seems to me that the doctors just don't care, or don't want to excert themselves to find out what is wrong with me.

I really don't know how much long I can go on like this, and would appreciate any opions and or comments.

Thanks in advance

  • Check out gluten intolerance on the web. I think I've stopped my chronic diarrhea in a few days by eliminating gluten containing foods after months of suffering.

  • Altho you say you've tried just rice for several weeks.....or steel cut oatmeal and still have the HORRIBLE problem, see if perhaps there is something you occasionally eat that has "fructose" in it.....especially HIGH FRUCTOSE corn syrup, which is in almost everything....including bread and even Stove Top dressing mix. It is amazing how many things have high fructose corn syrup or sorbitol or another form of fructose.

  • Do you chew a lot of gum? I was reading an article recently about some patients who had lost a significant amount of weight and couldn't understand why. Finally the doctors tested the stools and it was found that there was a high amount of sorbitol (which is what they use in hospital to make you go to the bathroom!) and both patients chewed about 25 pieces of gum a day. Hope this help or even better I hope you already figured out your problem. If not good luck. :o

  • Heliobacter Pylori. It causes all symptoms you have and ulcer. I had it ,doctors did not diagnosed for many years. I asked for a h pylori test and sure enough, I had it . Finished treatment about a month ago. Some nasty side effects but bug is worth eradicating as it can cause stomach cancer.

Lyme disease can be very hard to diagnose.

  • Stress can cause diarrhea. I had diarrhea for many years. Eating more fiber, addressing your stressors, and taking acidophilus will help. I recently had a colonoscopy, and have had a lot of diarrhea since. I'm taking acidophilus. I think the laxatives they use for the colonoscopy are very harsh and destroy the good bacteria in your intestines.

  • Well i dont want to downplay, but 2 years is a long time for a condition to not have it excellerate and seeing as nothing appears to be wrong with all the tests. It very well could be stress. Stress can kill, seriously, so diaherra lasting 2 years is possible as well. Have you tired relaxing exercises?
