An infection or something more sinister?

Okay, so last night I woke up in complete agony. My ribs, back and stomach felt like they were being continually stabbed. Even sitting up and allowing my back to touch a pillow hurt beyond belief. My hands shook, I had problems breathing and I had hot flushes. I've had these pains come and go recently and its beyond a joke. I actually vommitted though, lastnight. Around 5 times and the pain seemed to dull down.
I've had to phone into work sick (I'm a nursing asisstant) and the pain is now a dull ache in my neck, but the nausea remains, I'm also exhausted from the nights activities.

Can anyone help?
