Ok, to start, both my mother, aunt and brother had dietbetes. i know i have the risk factors. Lately, I've been feeling so sleepy. I literally fall asleep every few hours watching tv. Also, I've been getting the shakes when I havent eaten for a while, usually in the mornings if I skip breakfast. I'm just starting menopause, so I attributed the muscle aches, dry skin and stiffness to that. I read some of the symptoms online and the numbness in my hands and thirst were another clue, although I hadnt noticed that until reading of it. the extreme sleepiness is what made me start looking at websites. I'm up early today and cant get to the doctor til later. I'm wondering if I should fast until the office opens and see if he can get me in for a test. I've read that you shouldnt drink either. I've been drinking water since I got up. Will that effect the test?

  • If you're tired all the time and you're thirsty, then the chances are that it is diabetes related. However ther is other stuff it can be. When I got diagnosed with diabetes, they thought that it could be glandular fever which has the same sort of symptoms.
