Any views? and precautions/ guidelines if any.

  • You want to make sure you have been fasting 8-15 hours prior to testing. First thing in the morning prior to eating, drinking, or taking any medications. Also you want to make sure you wash your hands and dry them before testing. This will give you an true glucose reading. Do this for about one week and document all your fasting readings. This will give you an idea if you are consistantly over 125mg/dl.Some foods stay in your body longer which can affect the glucose level. So the week long testing will give you a better idea of an average. If your numbers are on the higher side, I would recommend contacting your doctor to get some more detailed testing done there for confirmation. They might do the Oral Glucose Test, nasty, but will give them a true idea of your glucose levels and how your body reacts to glucose. It helps to go in with a weeks worth of tests, so the doctor know you've been watching and he won't have you do it and have to go back in.

  • My husband, Richard is a type 2 for the past 15 years. Due to his high BG and high blood pressure. The main concern is Bg which is at 200. After much persuasion, I ask him to quit his highly stressful job as a hotelier. I help monitor his his diet, low crab, moderate exercise in the garden and reduce stress.

  • It depends -- you'll really need to do pre and post fasting results. That means having to do blood work after you eat, not just the fasting period. Work closely with your doctor to get an accurate read in a controlled test.http://www.glycemicedge.com/blood-sugar-chart/My fasing blood sugar is 130mg/dL and PP is 136.
