blood sugar level to high?

is a blood sugar at 195 normal? my husband got really sick this morning and we called the paramedics they checked his vitals and said they were normal but they said that his blood sugar was 195 that seemed high to me. i have hypoglycimia and my blood sugar is usually around 80 or so when i feel okay, it feels low when it gets to 60 or so. is mine really low or is his really high? thx- jay :confused:

  • No that is not normal unless he just ate food. Blood sugar up to about 108 is considered normal, then slightly above that is "pre-diabetic". 195 would be a clear case of diabetes. He needs to have testing done immediately.

  • thank you so much for replying. he had not eaten since the night before. he is overweight and his dad has diabetes and his brother has pre- diabetes. i just dont know why they said it was normal it was almost like they thought i didnt know what they were talking about. my step father was diabetic and i took care of him alot since i was 14. so i know some info about it, but i just wasnt sure about that number. my step father passed away a few years ago so i cant ask him. he hasnt seen a doctor for atleast 10 years it drives me crazy cuz i feel as though i live at the doctors office. i will call a doctor tomorrow and get him in. thank you so much! - jay

  • hi..my blood sugar is 104..i did not eat anything at the time i was checked..my dad is diabetic and had liver cancer before he died.. is my blood sugar normal at the age of 25? i do have esophagitis, antrum gastritis and hiatal hernia as of this time..is there any possibility for me to have diabetes and any complications? my weight is 62kls height 5'6,,thanks..
