Hello, I am hoping some can give me some advice or something because I am confused. Let me start at the top, last Tuesday I started having very bad stomach pains that I chalked up to gas but the pain just kept getting worse. By Friday morning I was rushed to the er because the pain was so intense I was doubled over in the fetal position. After 3 rounds of IV pain meds, an ultrasound, and a CT the Dr told me I had colitis and admitted me. The admitting Dr told me he felt it was viral colitis and put me on 24 hour IV antibiotics. I was still having horrible pain, my stomach was so bloated I looked 6 months pregnant, I had not had a bm in 5 days, and to top it off I started projectile vomiting day 2 of my 4 day stay. The only other testing the did were a few xrays. They wanted to do a colonoscopy but I could not do the prep due to my vomiting. By day 4 most of the bloating had gone done and the pain was manageable. The Dr discharged me and told me to follow up with a family doctor. Here lays my confusion, I have been researching this diagnosis and none of my presenting symptoms fit the symptoms of viral colitis. I am still unable to have bm, if I do pass any stool it is about dime sized and nothing more. The pain comes back periodically but not as harsh. Could I have been misdiagnosed? If anyone can help please I will take any advice at this point. Thanks!
