Tongue Numb and sore

I have been smoking for 5 years now and just recently my tongue has become sore and the tip of my tongue is numb. The papillia have turned white. I think that this means that they are dying. I quit a couple days ago, when it first started happening and it hasn't gone away yet. What should I do?
