hello im 19 and very confused and mad at the medical system, about a month and a half ago i started getting constipated and very bloated, i still am constipated but not as bad, my bowel habits are a bit off, i have been feeling sick, tired and i look pale. i also have a dull pain deep in my rectum, im not sure if its in my rectum or my colon, i can also feel that there is something there...i also have noticed red on my bowels but im not sure if its blood or food...it looks like red flakes, almost like tomatoe skin...

i feel the worst in the mornings...the doctor told me it would take 6 months for me to get a colonscopy...i have had blood tests and bowel tests and they all came back negative.... but im just very very worried i have colon cancer or a tumor....

i have pretty bad anxiety too so it might be making me believe i have a life threating illness but i am having all those symptoms and if i did not have anxiety i would still be very scared.

  • First do you have a history of someone in your immediate family with colon cancer (mom, dad or siblings)? Do you have ulcerative colitis? If you answer no to both of these questions it is very very rare that you have colon cancer. :) You are very young to have colon cancer especially without a family history also if the blood tests are coming back negative it is another good sign that this is not your diagnosis. If I would fashion a guess on your diagnosis I would say:You probably have irritable bowel syndrome, especially with anxiety also affecting you. And I would say that possibly you have a hemeroid from your constipation. I would schedule an appointment for a colonoscopy. Why is it 6 months out? (do you live in Canada?) And I would increase my fiber intake(supplements from the grocery store).Perhaps you could try some anxiety management things like yoga or something, it would help with both your bowels and your anxiety in general. When we are stressed/anxious it also decreases our immune system so we feel run down. I have had ulcerative colitis and irritable bowel syndrome for 11 years now, so I understand your anxiety. I hope this has helped to ease your mind until you can get into the gastroenterologist and have your scope :)

  • Dear Any doctor,I have observed for two days now that I have a bloody stool. Yesterday, I saw a few red stuff on my stool. Today, I ate something spicy and my stool had red juice on it. I know that it is blood. It was quite alarming because the water on the bowl turned red and as I checked the piece of paper tissue that I used to wipe my behind, I really saw blood. This has happened for only two days now. What should I do
