Okay, so here's the situation. I am 25 y/o and for the past year and a half, I have been experiencing blood in my stool on a regular basis. I went to my doctor with this issue immediately, and without any kind of exam, I was told it was nothing more than a hemorrhoid. I was prescribed some suppositories and continued to use them until the issue went away. However, shortly after I stopped using the suppositories, the bleeding returned. Although not as frequent as before, I was still immensely concerned. I scheduled another appointment with my Doctor, but due to my hectic school schedule I was not able to make it in. A week later (Monday, April 5) I used the restroom, and when I turned to flush the toilet I noticed something that I have never seen before. I found a red mass in my stool that I can only describe as looking like a blood clot (or at least my best guess of what one would look like). Though I was disgusted by the idea of removing it from the toilet, I decided it might be a good idea so my doctor send it to pathology for testing. After removing it, I poked it with a toilet paper roll and cut it in half only to discover that it had a white center. The next day I attempted to schedule an appointment with my doctor but was unable to do so. Later that day I decided to go to the urgent care center to speak with a Doctor, and when I showed him what I had found, he showed little if no concern until I told him about my family history of colon cancer. Once I did, he took the container out of the trash, sent it straight to pathology for testing, and performed a rectal exam where he determined that I did not have a hemorrhoid. Prior to my visit to the doctor, I was experiencing zero pain or discomfort, but now I have been having consistent abdominal pain that shoots into my back ever since. I figure that this is either coincidence, or maybe even psychological due to the fact that I have been obsessing over this ever since. I have a colonoscopy scheduled for the 2nd of May and I won’t know until then what the lab results on what I found will be, if anything at all. I’m not asking for a diagnosis, but I would like to know what this thing might be. If anyone has experienced the same thing I would really like to hear about it. Here’s a link with a picture of the mass that I found after it was cut in half…
