Chest Pain in Iraq

Allow me to start of by thanking anyone who takes the time to read this and respond. I am currently stationed in Iraq running convoys and been having chest pains for the entire year.

They first started back in the US while we were training up. It was March 07 and we were doing a 4 mile road march with our Body Armor on. During the march I began having a sharp pain on my left chest right below the nipple/chest on my rib cage. The pain would lessen if I adjusted my armor of my left shoulder but not completely disappear.

Fast forward one year later and I still have the pain while wearing my body armor and now sometimes with out. I went on sick call and they took a chest x-ray which came up negative. The only thing the found wrong with me was High Blood pressure which is unusual because I am 24 years old and in very good shape (probably my diet of soda and junk food).

My family has no heart problem history other then my father who has a heart murmur. I have been on two other deployments and never had any problem with the body armor before this.

I hope it is just stress getting to me, but most of the time I have the pain I am not very stressed at all. I can get it just lying around watching a movie.

Any ideas are welcome. Thanks.

  • Make sure you stay properly hydrated.... Iraq is hot. I do think you should be checked out and screened for porphyria. Just to be safe. Something to entertain the troops...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frEQriLBf3M
