Lately I have noticed some strange bumps down there. I've looked it up and i'm pertty sure it's genital warts. Is there anything I can do to get rid of them or do I have to go to the doctor?

If you suspect genital warts, you should definately go see your doctor to confirm this. Although they are not necessarly life threatening, they may be bothersome, in which case your doc can help get rid of them. You never specified whether you are male or female, but in females HPV (which is the virus that causes genital warts) is linked to cervical cancer, so it is important to go to the doctor to get tested.

  • Sorry, i didn't know where else to write this.So i'm using this forum.Okay, i'll be blunt.I'm only 16 and i have these strange small spot like things on the base of my penis.Thing is, after looking at some websites, the majority inform me to visit a doctor.Problem is, i really don't want to see a doctor, is there anyone who can re-assure me on what it is?I've looked at so many different infections etc... but none of them seem to match up.They are sort of a creamy colour, very small, and they are at the base of my penis, along with other various places around my genitals. I've tried squeezing them, but that had no effect. Please helpThanks.

  • Aww Look, I take it you cant talk to your father and mother about this so im going to.I think what your describing is normal. my husband is has these tiny soft bumps and im sure just like you its perfectly ok.However it will not do you any harm to get them checked by the doctor, its the most sensible thing to do. My advice on the embarrassing situation:Go to your doctor complaning of a sore throat. When the doctor checks and says theres nothing there to see, just slip it in that you also have these wee bumps but your embarrased to say at the sametime. It always works for me!!! I can understand if your embarrassed. When I was your age, and believe you me it wasnt that long ago (im only 26), I had a similar problem, but pls bear in mind the doctors has been there, seen it all before and worn the t shirt. They are trained to deal with embarrasing stuff.Just think of us poor ladies who have to sit with no knickers on, legs a crimbo with everything on show for male doctors and female docs to see when we certain check ups.If we can get through that, im sure you will just fine .Hope you get on okJak x

  • There is no cure for genital warts, and you can always pass it to your partner even if the actual warts go away, you still carry the disease. You should see a doctor, there is no other way. He/she can give you cream that should take care of it, and it wasn't that expensive with insurance. Whatever the cost it is worth it. But please remember to use protection because it is contagious even with no warts visible.Good Luck!

  • im 19 and have had ten partners 9 in which i didnt use protection, contacted genital warts unsurprisingly judgin on some of the girls id been with, anyhow i went to a sexual infection clinic paid 150 euro for this wart removing treatment, its like an airosol canister that freezes the wart, quite painfull during and after, the warts formed large scabs and wen the scabs went away i was left with small notiable scare or skin of differnt colour wher the warts once were, within two weeks of the treatment and no sex in beteen more warts started to develop, i dont have the money to go back in to more then likely get another failed treatment and be left with more scars is there any way of getting rid of these scars and also s there any cream i could apply myself to remove the warts, any information would be hugely appreciated as i am feeling very low and depressed about this at the moment thakns

I havent experience having multiple partners too. Going back to warts, my ob suggested to do cautery on the wartz which i think its a good thing to do to avoid a more serious disease. Try to ask your doctor about cautery if its possible in your situation...
