I am 26 and very worried, for about a year and a half on separate ocassions I have been getting these weird heart palpitations and shortness of breath right before I go to bed. As I doze off I am awoken by what feels like my heart almost getting shocked.I begin to doze off again I can feel my heart palpitating and then when I finally fall asleep I am awoken again by the electric jumping feeling in my heart. During this lying down state my shortness of breath is at its worse. I need to take extremely deep breaths to feel like my body is getting enough oxygen. It feels as if my body forgets to breath on its own. It has happened to me 3 or 4 times only one day at a time with months in between but they really scare me. What could this be?
