rapid heart beat, weakness

I am a 19 year old college student. About two weeks ago I had a head cold and took Alka-Seltzer Cold & Cough gel caps before going to bed. That night, I could not sleep because my heart was racing. I propped myself up and took slow, deep breaths to slow it down. Then, when I would finally nod off something in my body would ***k me awake again and the palpitations would start all over. My extremities also felt very weak.

I've been fine for the past two weeks, until the other night when it started up again. Finally, after sitting up, leaning forward with a pillow against my front, and rocking slowly for several minutes, I was able to lie on my left side and sleep. The same thing happened last night, but after the rocking, I was able to sleep. Then, when I woke up this morning the palpitations started and I have small pains in my right side. Nothing major, but they are recognizable. When I would lay on that side I would also feel them. My extremities feel weak as well and laying on my back does nothing to help.

Any ideas? Could this be pancreatitis? I'm rather scared.

  • I've also developed a pain in my right side at the bottom of my rib cage. =/ It's not a severe pain, it's mild and not constant. Every so often there's a mild sting of pain near the front of my rib. Could it possibly be stress along with the fact that I am a passive person?
