For the last 2-3 years now i have been experiencing heart palpitations and shortness of breath here and there. But in the last year or so it has gotten 10 times worse and in the last few months has been every single day. It's at its worst when i am trying to sleep. So bad that i dread going to sleep every night. I also have pressure under my ribs on both sides. I'm also nauseas everyday. A few weeks ago i was feeling pretty terrible and i had an awful panic attack. Honestly it feels like im dying and i go to sleep everynight wondering if im going to wake up. I used to be very active before this started and now i cant get myself to do anything in worry that im going to have a heart attack. I constantly check my pulse. My heart rate usually hangs around about 85-90 bpm. Im 21 years old and im 6'1" and 260 pounds. Please if there are any ideas as to whats wrong with me tell me.

  • I have the exact same issues. I do suffer from anxiety/panic disorder BUT do also expereince the heart palpitations and shortness of breath. Doctors have told me many times " its just anxiety" but i believe its more than that because even when im under no stress and anxiety, i still sometimes experience the heartbeat irregularities. Often they happen more at night, heart beats are irregular, and feel my heart pounding forcefully in my chest. Sometimes it lasts only a few seconds, other times it lasts much longer. If you do suffer from anxiety, i would recommend some anti-depressants for that, and possibly some Ativan for when you are having an attack. Both are very helpful. As for the heart issues, i would say to go see your family doctor and INSIST on having some tests done , and maybe be referred to a heart specialist to ensure its nothing more than anxiety. There are some heart conditions that mimic "anxiety symptoms". Such as mitral valve prolapse, and others. Some are minor, some are not. Things that do help: minimal nicotine, caffine, drink lots of water ( as dehydration can sometimes cause heart beat irregularities) get plenty of rest, reduce your stress levels as much as possible. Limit your alcohol intake as well. good luckFor the last 2-3 years now i have been experiencing heart palpitations and shortness of breath here and there.
