I am wondering if there is anyone who has had the same symptoms as I am having and possibly tell me what is going on. For about a week now everytime I sleep - when I wake up my hands are very painful, sometimes numb and sometimes have "pins & needles" They swell a LOT and I can't make a fist because they are so swollen and sore. My rings....which are typically loose on my fingers are embedded into my fingers and leave visible marks after the swelling goes down. The pain that this causes prevents me from doing simple things - an example is that I cannot even light a lighter when I wake up. It takes between 30 minutes and 2 hours before my hands are "normal" again. This happens even if I take a little "nap" EVERY time I sleep I wake up swollen and in extreme pain.
I have had surgery on both of my arms in the past (1999 was the year of the surgeries) for nerve damage. I had ulnar nerve relocation. These were not the symptoms that I was having before I had the surgery. This is all new - for about 1 week to 10 days now.
Please tell me what could be causing this.
