Hi all. I am looking for any tips or suggestions on what my mystery condition is. I’ve seen five specialists and run numerous tests and no one has a clue what is wrong with me. I am a 25-year-old female that was previously in good health.
About two months ago, I woke up and had severe shortness of breath. I couldn’t walk more than 5 feet without breathing like I just ran a marathon. My heart rate also increased significantly, but I did not feel heart palpitations. During a test at one doctor’s office, my pulse went from 80 to 134 after walking a few feet. I am now on a beta blocker that helps me function a little more. My blood pressure is perfectly normal.
I have tightness in my chest through out the day. I used to get pain in what felt like my lungs when I exhaled. I have almost no energy, and no, it is not all because of the beta blocker. I had fatigue before these symptoms popped up. I have to nap every day during my lunch break at work just to function. Lifting anything feels heavy, even a mug of coffee... no joke. My legs feel heavy when I walk. I still get out of breath if I walk, lift things, talk excitedly in a conversation, etc. It’s making life really difficult to function in.
Other possible symptoms include headaches, stiff neck, ring and pinky fingers routinely going numb when I sleep (both hands), joint aches particularly in my hips, knees, ankles and wrists, and heartburn when I haven’t eaten. The aches keep me up at night. I can only describe it as an annoying, nagging feeling. It isn't painful.
I’ve had four EKGs, chest x-ray, CT scan checking for pulmonary embolism, ultra sound on heart and on thyroid… all normal. I’ve been tested for Lyme disease (only two reactive bands), lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Vitamin D deficiency, Anemia, Fibromyalgia, asthma, and thyroid. All were normal as well. I’ve now seen three cardiologists and none of them believe it is my heart. I’ve seen a pulmonologist and he said my lungs were fine (98% oxygen intake). I’ve seen an endocrinologist who said my adrenal glands and thyroid were normal. I’ve seen an OBGYN to check if it was birth control related. It is not. I’m running out of options. Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be so I can suggest things to my doctors?
