I was in the ICU for eight days and hospitalized for a total of eleven nights due to sepsis, pneumonia in both lungs, a crazy high white blood cell count, an enlarged spleen... the list goes on and on. I am a 22 year old female. The sepsis has left me feeling like I got hit my a train, and I have weird dots all over my body that won't go away. While in the ICU, they were struggling with wondering if I needed life support or not. They wanted me to go on a ventilator, and were minutes away from doing so, but by the grace of God my blood oxygen levels went up. In the ICU, my blood oxygen levels got as low as 40% according to my mom. I am planning on calling them and asking for medical records. Due to DEATHLY low blood oxygen and a resting heart rate in the 150s and 160s, and intensely low blood pressure... what exactly does that mean? Was my heart failing? Also, could someone explain to me why I can't remember being in the ICU? Memory lapses freak me out. If someone with knowledge/experience/expertise could answer this I would so appreciate it. I am so grateful to be alive and want to learn more about what happened to me.
