Has happened to me twice in the past 12 mnths.. i am 27 yr old female (had baby 2 yrs ago).
First time it happened i was home asleep, woke up by my heart fluttering, and my baby was crying, (think she woke me up, perhaps i was frightened with the screams whilst asleep?) had a bad chest for a few days after. Went to docs had ecg all fine!
Then this time i was abroad in spain stress free, had a few drinks of sangria (with exra rum)and beer, and was woken up early hours saturday morning with the same fluttering, (there was banging music from hotel across from us)lasted few mins, then i had a full blown panick attack because i was away from home, i woke my partner up, he calmed me down and i went back to sleep shaking, the next few days unable to eat and had a bad chest for a few days after. felt unwell. I didnt go to spanish doc we were afraid they would of kept us over there, we flew home late sunday night, and i went to my doc monday morning and have been refered to a cardio, got appointment within the next week! He doesnt think i have had a heart attack, my bp was fine, listened to my hrt that was fine he said, and he said i am to young to have had a heart attack, he does think it could be SVT. Awaiting appointment to see cardio over the next week or so.
I have always had palpitations every now and again, i flog them off, i dont worry about them, but when they wake you up, or last for over half a minute it can be very frightening..
