I hope someone can at least give me some ideas. I suspect I have some form or other of heart disease. The symptoms are there but EKG's are always normal. I am on medicaid and am limited to doctors that are on the list given to me. How on earth can I get these doctors to listen to me? I'm an intelligent woman and I hate going to doctors' offices. I only go when I need to and then I'm patronized. Will it take a heart attack before they belive me?

I need to break that unseen barrier often raised on women. I don't think doctors do this on purpose but act out of ignorance or will not act outside textbook definitions.

Thank you for your help

  • Make a list of your symptoms.Find and print out symptoms and cases online which relate to your case.Bring all these to the doctor with you and don't leave until you get help. If that doesn't work go to a good ER, preferably in a teaching hospital or where there is a cardio center, and park yourself there until you get diagnosed. The only way I got treated correctly for my condition was to go to the ER for a second opinion. Which in turn forced the main doctor to give me the right dose of medication.Sometimes alternative methods are needed to get answers.
