Chronic chest 'discomfort'

Hi Everyone,

I'm a 22 year old white male, 6ft and around 182 pounds. I've no medical conditions as such; i had an appendectomy around 3 years ago and that's as interesting as it gets. My family has a history of strokes/alzheimer's on my mothers side, and my sister who is 27 and 5ft5/126 pounds had a mini-stroke last year.

I went to the Doctor recently for a check up more than anything, and to run some things by them - one thing that did come up was my slightly high blood pressure.

I'm going back in a few weeks to have my pressure taken again. In the meantime though something that has troubled me for sometime has came to mind.... I find myself suffering a discomfort/irritableness (sp?) around my lower sternum quite often (especially when stressed); i rub the area/'guard' the area a lot without noticing it half the time.

Could this just be a sign of my high blood pressure?

Thank you,
