I am trying to find out as much information on this as possible. Someone very close to me has just been diagnosed with this and I need to know as much as possible.

What can I do to help?
Is there a surgical treatment?
What can I do to help limit pain and cause other issues such as Syncope occurring?
What are the outcomes of this?
What can they expect?
I have been searching for hours, and all I can find is medical journals that go way over my head.

Any help and information on this would help. We both suffer from depression and bipolar disorder (mine is a lot less severe). So any help would be greatly appreciated.
